Sondra and Marvin Boone's journey is a tale of love, heritage, and creativity woven together with the threads of history and tradition. As registered members and recognized artists of the Delaware Tribe of Indians (Lenape) and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, they carry with them the weight of their ancestors' legacy and the responsibility to preserve their memories. Married for 39 years, Sondra and Marvin's partnership extends beyond love into their shared passion for craftsmanship and jewelry making. Marvin's skill as a lapidary and metalsmith complements Sondra's artistic vision, allowing them to create exquisite pieces of jewelry that honor their cultural heritage. Their creations, handcrafted using sterling silver, gold, copper, and leather, range from intricate rings to stunning bracelets and beaded necklaces. Each piece is a testament to their dedication to preserving indigenous artistry and storytelling traditions. Central to their work is their collection of turquoise, sourced from around the world, including rare pieces from American mines long closed. Turquoise, with its timeless beauty and spiritual significance, becomes a cornerstone of their artistic expression, connecting them to the earth and their ancestors. Beyond turquoise, their collection also features the enchanting opals of Australia, reflecting the diversity and richness of the natural world and the people who inhabit it. For Sondra and Marvin, every piece of jewelry holds a story—a story of resilience, creativity, and the enduring spirit of their people. Their journey is a testament to the power of art to transcend boundaries and create beauty out of adversity. In their creative venture, Sondra honors the memory of her beloved mother, Honey, whose guiding presence continues to inspire and guide her every step of the way. With gratitude and love, she acknowledges the legacy of her ancestors and the interconnectedness of all things. Through their artistry and dedication, Sondra and Marvin invite us all to find love, respect, and beauty in our shared history and the world around us. In honoring the past, they pave the way for a brighter, more harmonious future.
